by Gregg Miner, as part of The Knutsen Archives

  1. Chris Knutsen's first harp guitar, patented in 1896, had a short bass arm with no extra strings. It was produced from about 1895 to 1900.
  2. The short arm with no strings option re-surfaced in Seattle around 1906-1908 on his "Lower Bass Point" harp guitars.
  3. 1910, arm tip undergoing transformation.
  4. 1913, arm modified to hold 3 very short bass strings.
