Today, we add a new country to my World Harp Guitar Map (remember how I used to tell that complete history in just 10 minutes at the Harp Guitar Gathering)?

In South America, we’ve already discovered many virtuoso classical players of Spanish Torres-style instruments in the musical capitals of Argentina and Uruguay.

But now we travel 2000 miles to the west – and over 10,000 miles up – where in the 1920s and ’30s in the Andean mountains we discover a couple of hidden harp guitarists.  One of them you could’ve heard on the radio (if you happened to be in Lima at the time).  The other?  Well, you’d have to get on your pack animal and follow along as his entire family of musicians toured southern Peru for their performances.

What I wouldn’t give to have seen and heard that ensemble!

Please enjoy learning, as I did, about these fascinating Peruvian Harp Guitarists
