Did you know that Harpguitars.net has an Index of Recordings that feature harp guitar?
It’s been part of the website since inception, but due to a lack of volunteers, it had languished since 2017. We’ve just caught up! Volunteer Sean de Burca is the new List Administrator. Going forward, he will send out periodic requests for new releases (but artists feel free to alert him at any time).
Rather than maintain a web page, I have moved everything over into an Excel spreadsheet that I formatted and spit out into a PDF, which you can quickly view and/or download as you desire.
The site links to the Music page from two places (besides thosehere): a text link at the bottom of the WordPress home page, and a larger text link near the top of the Players page (P.S: I tweaked the Tunings page a hair while I was at it).
Please check it out and feel free to send Sean your updates. He can be reached on Facebook or through his website One thing we are weak on is year of release; not a big deal, but much is missing. If you supply them, we’ll add them. More important are blurbs about the instrument(s) and what track(s) they appear on. Some albums are 100% harp guitar; some include just 1 track with a bit of HG; we’d like the fans to be aware of the reality of that (honest & legitimate). Sean’s added a few additional blurbs, but we are missing a LOT. Again, send Sean your info and we’ll tweak.
Another cool feature we came up with is “Bandcamp status.” Any artist on that platform includes their logo on the PDF list. More than one person has lamented a central home for a music database and/or a common access point. Spotify, which pays artists virtually nothing, was not our choice. Sadly, only about 17% of the current 150 represented artists (not all active, and more than a few deceased) have a Bandcamp page (free to artists). But it’s a start. Sean and I encourage others to join. C’mon! LPs & CDs are slowly making a comeback, and Bandcamp lets you include cover art, track art, liner notes, the works!
Last but not least, if you’d like to see this list (let alone the entire website) keep going, that can only happen if the Harp Guitar Foundation continues to receive donations, small or large, every bit helps.
