Those of you who attended our 12th Harp Guitar Gathering in Idaho in 2014 will recall that (in honor of one of our featured guests, Jon Mendle) I presented an in-depth look at an instrument called the “archguitar” (or arch guitar). I was always rather proud of my efforts and intended to one day turn my PowerPoint into a full site article. Once again, it wasn’t as simple as I imagined – as I wanted to make sure I brought it up to date.
Well, after talking again with Peter Blanchette and James Kline (and checking on others), I think I’m ready:
Here’s the 22 page PDF finished piece: A Short (Yet Surprisingly Complete) History of the Modern Archguitar!
Thanks for the Blanchette interview link, hadn’t seen that. Guess I’ve got to learn how to play the thing now.
The descriptive word “arch” in “arch guitar” always confused and bothered me. I am now less bothered. Thanks.
I don’t think I have ever learned so much in such short time before. Absolutely awesome!
